 About Dmitry

Born in Moscow, Dmitry Gindin came to the USA in 1976. In his early years he studied the violin but became interested in the instruments themselves and soon began dealing in them. In 1984 Dmitry started a full-time business as a wholesale dealer in fine instruments and bows, based in Boston. In 1987 he made London and later Paris, Florence and New York bases of operation. He began travelling extensively around the world, seeking out instruments that would qualify as investments, while acquiring the necessary expertise by picking over auctions, private collections and stocks of other dealers and violin makers.
