About UsBorn in Moscow, Dmitry Gindin came to the USA in 1976. In his early years he studied the violin but while still a teenager he became interested in the instruments themselves and soon began dealing in them. In 1984 Dmitry started a full-time business as a wholesale dealer in fine instruments and bows, based in Boston. In 1987 he made London and later Paris and Florence bases of operation. He began traveling extensively around the world, seeking out instruments that would qualify as investments, while acquiring the necessary expertise by picking over auctions, private collections and stocks of other dealers and violin makers. The main objective of his business was to procure original instruments and bows primarily to international, retail violin shops. He specialized in Italian instruments and French bows of the 19th and 20th centuries, with a particular concentration, in terms of acquisition, sales and respected expertise, on the modern Italian school of violin making. Dmitry purchases 95% of his stock, thus avoiding dealing in undesirable or overpriced consigned merchandise.
